A lot of fear can come with Mercury Retrograde!!
But this one is a really great one to use alongside your birth prep.
Mercury Retrogrades (this is when it looks like mercury is moving backwards!) provide a great opportunity to slowwww down, to go inwards, and reflect.
This Mercury Retrograde is happening in Sagittarius - Sagittarius is the sign of our belief systems, of learning, of freedom, of truth.
And boyyyy when you’re pregnant do you need to take a deep look at your belief system around birth!! As well as your beliefs about your self, pregnancy, babies, and motherhood!
So from now until December 15th (when Mercury Retrograde finishes) really take some time to reflect on your beliefs around birth and beliefs about yourself .
You have the power to change your beliefs. It might be tricky, and can take some big work, but you don’t need to stay attached to beliefs that you no longer align with or think are true. You’re allowed to change your mind! Especially when you have new information and experiences! And this is such a sign of strength, not weakness.
Sagittarius is also the sign of expansion - expanding our minds, beliefs, understandings, views, through learning, travelling, and experiencing.
So I actually can't think of a better Mercury Retrograde to be working alongside for your birth prep! Use this time to reflect on your belief systems, particiularly around birth and of yourself (if you have the energy and capacity, it would be great to do this for pregnancy, postpartum, babies and motherhood, too!).
Pregnancy, birth, and motherhood will change you forever. It is the most beautiful transformation. It will completely change what you think of yourself, the world, others, life - everything! This isn't to be feared. Working with this and being aware of it can make all of these things positive and for the best, aligning you with your truest self (but course that doesn't mean it's always easy!).
Here are some journal prompts:
Birth:
what are my beliefs around birth?
where do these beliefs stem from?
are they true representations of birth?
do they align with your truth?
what new things have I learnt recently about birth?
do I believe in my freedom of choice when it comes to pregnancy, birth, and parenting?
Yourself:
what are my beliefs about myself?
where do these beliefs stem from?
do I believe in myself? in my capabilities? in my power? in my decisions?in my intuition?
do I believe in birth? in my body? in my baby?
am I connected to my truth?
Pregnancy, babies, and motherhood:
what are my beliefs about pregnancy? babies? motherhood? particularly newborns and postpartum?
where do these beliefs stem from?
have these beliefs changed since being pregnant/having my own baby/experiencing postpartum and motherhood?
why have they changed?
are my beliefs in alignment with my intuition? with what feels right inside? my gut?
am I doing certain things because that's what I feel is best for me and/or my baby? or because that's what society/family/friends expect? what I experienced growing up?
Get curious! There is no right or wrong, and no blame or judgement. Be kind to yourself, always. But do make some time for yourself over the next few weeks to explore this, it's soooo important.
If you have any questions or want to know more, or just want to chat about this a bit more, come follow me on insta @elle.massey_bam or drop me an email elle.massey.bam@gmail.com
I'd also have a look at your birth chart and see where Sagittarius is in your chart as that can highlight some areas of your life that may be coming up for you during this time. I can talk about this more in a Self Discovery Session! Standalone or as part of my doula care and hypnobirthing course. Find out more on my website!
Sending lots of love,
